USCIS Forms: Edition

Many people carefully download the correct USCIS form — but miss one crucial detail: the edition date. Every USCIS form has a version, and only specific editions are accepted at any given time. Submitting an outdated form, even if everything else is correct, can lead to your application being rejected. The good news? If you use the wrong edition, USCIS won’t charge your card or cash your check — they’ll simply return your packet.

To avoid this mistake, check the bottom corner of the form — you’ll see the edition date printed there (e.g., "Edition 01/20/25"). Then, go to uscis.gov, search for your form, and scroll to the “Edition Date” section. There, USCIS clearly lists which editions are currently accepted. If your version doesn’t match, download the latest one before filing.

At We Consult, we help clients catch small but important details like this so their forms are complete, accurate, and ready to go. If you need help with your USCIS paperwork, we’re just a message away.
